Boldest Blend Out of the Gran Habano Profile

It feels like time has just flown by this year, making me feel a little nostalgic. I am happy that it feels like a Florida summer outside, which lifts my spirits even after a long day at work. I recently returned from a trip to Maine, which I absolutely loved! I spent a few days hiking in Acadia National Park and eating so many lobster rolls. I can’t wait to go back next year!

For my final review out of this last group of cigars, I am reviewing the Gran Habano Corojo #5. This cigar is the boldest blend out of the Gran Habano profile! It contains both Costa Rican and Nicaraguan filler along with a Habano binder and a Nicaraguan wrapper. The green, red, and white band stands out against the dark chocolate wrapper.

I am currently tanning on my patio. It is pleasantly warm even around 5 p.m. when I start smoking. It feels like the workdays are getting longer, but I guess I always feel that way when the weather gets nicer. The first half of my smoke brings out chocolate and nutty notes. The cigar is bold and packs a strong punch. There is also some sweetness, which is a nice surprise on the retrohale. I am suddenly interrupted by my neighbor, who is walking his dog past my house. He is always very chatty and distracts me for the next fifteen minutes.

Earth and Leather Notes

During the second half of my smoke, the profile changes slightly with the introduction of some earth and leather notes. I am having a little difficulty with the burn being wavy, having to touch up a few times. There are still quite a bit of dark chocolate flavors, which balance well with the new notes. The draw is also a little tight, but manageable. I almost wish there was a little more sweetness on the retrohale, but it is still tasty all the same. I have taken a lot of time to just relax and listen to music while lying out. It was nice to clear my head and just enjoy the alone time.

At the end of my smoke, there weren't too many changes in the flavor profile, and when there were, they were very minor. I did struggle quite a bit with the burn, which unfortunately made me knock the cigar score down. I definitely want to smoke another one soon to see if I have the same issue. I really enjoyed the flavor profile and how well the notes all balanced out.
