Introduction to Moontrance
As part of the CAO Flavours Collection, the CAO Moontrance is a true original in the flavored cigar world. Made in the Dominican Republic, this cigar is infused with a variety of different fruits and bourbon vanilla extract. These flavors, along with the Cameroon wrapper, deliver a unique smoking experience.
It is a beautiful Spring Day here in Pennsylvania. The sun is shining bright, a little windy, but nothing out of the ordinary for this area. I am currently sitting on my patio with my Pug, Michael Scott, sipping on Diet Mountain. Typically I pair my cigar with some form of coffee beverage, but as it is later in the day, I will stick with the Dew. I don't really feel like being up all night on a weekday (5 am comes too quickly)!
First Half
Initially, I was hit with flavors of vanilla and peach. It surprises me some, as I am not used to the infused flavors as much. It can be a bit shocking if you are not used to it. After about fifteen minutes in, I am getting some nutty flavors that are very smooth and subtle. The burn has been flawless so far, even if the wind has been starting to bother me (hair in mouth etc.). My cat has now joined me and my Pug on the patio. She enjoys watching the birds and giving me panic attacks as she jumps on the edge of the railings.
Second Half
The fruit flavors during the second half of my smoke disappear completely. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise as the sweetness was getting a little overwhelming. With the fruit disappearance, the vanilla and nutty flavors showed up brightly. I also was getting hits of Earth tones, which was a nice balance. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd half of my smoke, not even realizing that a wasp had started hovering over my head. Typically, I would go into panic mode and run around trying to swat at it, but the cigar was a great distraction.
Burn/Draw
The draw was quite tight, but the burn was flawless, even if I was standing outdoors on my patio in what felt like a windstorm.
Final
After about an hour of smoking, the Moontrance finishes out with both a vanilla and fruitiness to it that is just sweet enough not to overpower sensitive palettes and also allows the Cameroon wrapper to shine. As someone who doesn't smoke infused cigars often, this gal can say this smoke is a must-try even for those who tend to steer clear of the infused sticks.
