Introduction

A powerhouse combination of Rafael Noda and A.J. Fernandez, the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Maestro was Cigar Aficionado's 2019 #1 cigar of the year! The classy yet striking cigar showcases its Nicaraguan Sumatra wrapper and torpedo shape. It is a high-class smoke with a slightly higher price tag. The cigar puts out an intense aroma of cocoa and earth notes just prior to lighting up.

Today is a perfect summer day here in Pennsylvania. Bright sunshine and no humidity to start my morning. I have what I call the "post-vacation funk" now. I just spent the last week in the Adirondacks with my family, and I had a hard time returning to reality. I have never been one to sit still and constantly like being on the go. I often find the day to life to sometimes be monotonous, so I typically am always looking for the next adventure. I have paired my smoke with a somewhat odd choice…Blumers Root Beer. I typically don't drink soda, but I have been on a root beer kick lately and love it!

First Half

The first half of my smoke is filled with both pepper and earth tones. There is also quite a bit of leather too, but that is more towards the end of the first half. There is also an abundance of sweetness before heading into the second half. It is a mix of both chocolate and hot cocoa. I do not feel at this point that my root beer was an appropriate pairing. I should have stuck with my normal coffee pairing, but alas, mistakes were made. I am currently on a walk with my Pug, who has seemed distracted for quite some time by a bird relentlessly squawking at him.

Second Half

It is during the second half where I feel the cigar really shines, earning its star rating. The cigar is very creamy and rich. Most of the pepper, Earth, and leather tones became very mild, but it's that sweet smoothness that is enticing.

Burn/Draw

The draw was perfect; however, the burn was quite wonky at times, having to touch up frequently throughout the smoke.

Final

After about an hour of smoking, the cigar finishes out with that same creamy smoothness it had throughout the second half. I would say that it is because of the second half why the cigar receives such a high rating. It is a definite must-try, but because of the price tag, I would say to save it for those special occasions.
