Probably the biggest, baddest cigar you have ever seen. At 8 gigantic inches and carrying a massive 66 ring gauge, this monstrosity can easily take up to 3-4 hours to chop down, making it a perfect stick to smoke all night while hanging out with your favorite buddies in the man cave, the pool hall, or your favorite pub.
Rugged and rustic in appearance, Big Johnny by Oscar adheres well to the Leaf by Oscar fashion code. It consists of a hefty amount of Honduran filler and binder tobaccos and a thick, beautiful Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper. Consider yourself warned, however, Big Johnny is not for the faint of heart.
The 8" x 66 giant of a cigar is surprisingly well constructed, offering a comfortable draw, a bountiful volume of smoke, and a decent burn, even despite its gargantuan girth. The first thing to note about Big Johnny (aside from its stature) is the rich tobacco flavor that serves as the base to hold the taste profile together. Along the way, expect a simple, yet very satisfying array of earthy, smoky flavors and some sweet hints of coffee and cocoa. The blend is actually based on the original Leaf by Oscar Maduro cigar, which began as a local favorite at the Leaf and Bean shop in Pittsburgh and is now hugely successful as one of the main offerings from the company. Medium-full in body and flavor, Big Johnny makes a great “anytime” stick, as long as you have enough time to smoke it!
Big Johnny by Oscar is a great all around cigar. It is simple, easy to smoke, and just plain enjoyable, whether you are a novice or an experienced connoisseur. Due to the size, Big Johnny can get a bit strong at the end, so the best time to smoke it would likely be after a sizeable meal. It pairs well with dark beer or coffee and burns slow and cool.
