Bellas Artes Maduro Toro Cigars
The Bellas Artes Maduro Toro by AJ Fernandez expands on the success of the original 2016 Bellas Artes release, which debuted a unique hybrid natural wrapper. For this Maduro version, AJ retains the trusted Nicaraguan filler blend and Mexican San Andrés binder, then elevates the profile with a dark, oily Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper. This richer leaf introduces deep earthiness, natural sweetness, and a bold spicy edge. Inspired by Fernandez’s visits to Havana’s famed Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Bellas Artes Maduro line continues to thrive, offering a full-bodied, luxurious smoking experience tailored to even the most discerning Maduro fans. This blend has been ranked as high as 91 by Cigar Aficionado.
Box-pressed, densely packed, and glowing with natural oils, the Bellas Artes Maduro Toro looks every bit the masterpiece its name implies. Its ornate bands featuring Cuban artwork enhance the cigar’s refined aesthetic, adding sophistication before the first draw. The 6" x 54 Toro opens with dominant cocoa layered with sharp white pepper, particularly noticeable on the retrohale. After the first inch or two, the strength settles while complexity rises. Nuances of earth, aged tobacco, sweet cedar, and creamy chocolate merge into a deeply satisfying profile. With a long, plush finish, razor-straight burn, strong ash, and thick plumes of smoke, Bellas Artes Maduro confidently lands on the lighter side of full-bodied while still delivering connoisseur-level depth.
Like the natural version, Bellas Artes Maduro Toro is aimed at smokers with seasoned palates and a taste for fuller-bodied blends that reward attention. The robust toro format offers a long, rich smoking session while balancing strength and smoothness. Although it pairs beautifully with sweeter, heavier spirits like port wine or bourbon, the chocolate-forward nuances also shine alongside a strong black coffee. Following Maduro standouts such as Enclave Broadleaf and San Lotano Maduro, this cigar showcases AJ Fernandez’s continued mastery of dark, complex blends. For those seeking a high-end Maduro masterpiece, Bellas Artes Maduro Toro remains an essential choice.
