Bellas Artes Maduro Gordo Cigars
The Bellas Artes Maduro Gordo by AJ Fernandez builds upon the acclaimed 2016 Bellas Artes release, which originally featured a one-of-a-kind hybrid natural wrapper. For this Maduro expression, AJ keeps the trusted Nicaraguan filler core and Mexican San Andrés binder, then enhances the profile with a dark, oily Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper leaf. This deeper wrapper adds dense earthiness, natural sweetness, and a bold spicy edge. Inspired by Fernandez’s visits to Havana’s Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Bellas Artes Maduro line has earned a stellar reputation among aficionados who crave full-bodied luxury and rich, layered flavor. This blend has been ranked as high as 91 by Cigar Aficionado.
Box-pressed, impeccably packed, and shimmering with natural oils, the Bellas Artes Maduro Gordo is a visual work of art. Ornate bands showcasing Cuban-style artwork further elevate the cigar’s refined appearance. Once lit, this gordo size opens with dominant cocoa supported by sharp white pepper, particularly noticeable on the retrohale. After the first inch, the strength begins to balance out while the complexity increases. Flavors of earth, mature tobacco, sweet cedar, and creamy chocolate merge into a deeply satisfying profile. With a long, lush finish, an exceptionally clean burn, and solid white ash, Bellas Artes Maduro delivers thick, aromatic clouds of smoke and an undeniably polished performance. Positioned on the lighter side of full-bodied, it stands as a true connoisseur-level Maduro.
Crafted for smokers with a well-developed palate and an appreciation for robust cigars, the 6 1/2" x 58 gordo provides a cooler draw and an extended smoking experience. Its large ring gauge amplifies smoothness while showcasing the full depth of the blend. While the cigar pairs beautifully with bourbon, port, or other sweet, heavy libations, it also shines alongside a hot black coffee, which brings out the chocolate-forward nuances. Following celebrated Maduro releases such as Enclave Broadleaf and San Lotano Maduro, this blend confirms AJ Fernandez’s mastery of dark, complex tobaccos. For those seeking a premium, full-bodied Maduro masterpiece, Bellas Artes Maduro Gordo belongs at the top of the list.
