Oscar Valladares is becoming one of those names in the industry that seems to be coming out with a cigar for just about everyone, and Wild Hunter is a prime example of his extreme attention to detail. Made in the Oscar Valladares factory in Honduras, Wild Hunter is a 2-part series consisting of both a Maduro variety and this Natural version. Both are Honduran puros, meaning that aside from being made in Honduras, all tobacco used in their production—wrapper, filler, and binder—are grown and harvested in Honduras, and in this case La Estrada a Copan, Valladares’ own family farm. The wrapper used in this Natural selection is a deep brown Honduran wrapper, simply called “Copan.” Both versions of Wild Hunter are offered in one single size: a 6” x 52 toro that is perfect for long talks around the campfire.

A camouflage background with Blaze Orange letters is the theme for both the box and the band, and in typical Oscar Valladares fashion a clump of raw tobacco is added to the box for added aesthetics. Performance-wise, this stick never disappoints. An easy draw produces plenty of thick smoke, allowing plenty of opportunity to enjoy the rich flavor offered by the blend. Spicy white pepper starts things off, awakening the palate and opening the door for the second wave of flavor, this time including the earthy raw tobacco backbone that holds the whole thing together. Hints of citrus and cayenne pepper decorate the background, and the finish is crisp and peppery. Rich, balanced, and never short in the flavor department, Wild Hunter settles as a medium-full-bodied cigar.
