Sancho Panza Double Maduro
Sancho Panza Double Maduro is no doubt a cigar whose name rings a nostalgic bell for many a long-time connoisseur. One of the favorite old-time classics, the Sancho Panza brand has unfortunately fallen into the shadows in recent years, its glory days but a distant glimmer in the rear-view mirror and its present situation best described as “still hanging on.” However, in a recent, dramatic turn of events, the brand has been rejuvenated, reworked, and given new life, as one of the edgiest names in cigar history, Matt Booth, is now the creative director at the industry giant General Cigar, and has vowed to make Sancho great again! Okay, so maybe he didn’t actually say that verbatim, but the magic he’s worked with the brand is causing quite a stir in the world of premium cigars. In the case of this Double Maduro variety, the second release in the trio, we have a bold and flavorful concoction brewed up at the STG factory in Danli, Honduras using a filler blend from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. As for the “Double Maduro '' part, both the binder and wrapper are aged maduro leaves, the binder hailing from Esteli, Nicaragua and the wrapper being an Ecuadoran Sumatra leaf that ties the whole package together in gorgeous harmony. For a modestly priced cigar, this stick is definitely something to talk about.
