Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua is the Nicaraguan counterpart to the original core cigar from Romeo y Julieta, the 1875. Slated for regular production, 1875 Nicaragua is the second of 2 cigars released in 2018 bearing the Romeo y Julieta name, the first being the Fernandez-made San Andres by Romeo y Julieta. In order to follow such a masterpiece, the folks at Altadis knew they had to go big or go home, so they turned to none other than the famed Plasencia family to take on this new project. Made at their immense factory in Nicaragua, Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua is rolled using all Nicaraguan leaves—filler, binder, and wrapper. The resulting Nicaraguan puro is a phenomenal concoction of flavor and complexity, with just enough power to keep things interesting. Once again, the Plasencias have hit a home run, and once again, Romeo y Julieta remains in the limelight.

Orange, white, and gold bands clothe each cigar, a stark contrast to the red and gold bands worn by the original 1875. The packaging is a simple Cuban style dress box bearing the brand logo along with “1875 Nicaragua” underneath.
