Romeo y Julieta 1875 Connecticut Nicaragua
Romeo y Julieta 1875 Connecticut Nicaragua is a unique cigar in that despite the fact that it uses a Connecticut wrapper, it is still considered a Nicaraguan puro. It is the result of a collaboration between Aging Room’s Rafael Nodal and legendary tobacco grower and blender Nestor Plasencia. This line is produced in the massive Plasencia Cigars S.A. factory in Nicaragua using all Nicaraguan leaves—filler, binder, and wrapper. The wrapper is the star of the show, however, and up until now has been nothing more than an experiment of sorts. It is a Nicaraguan Connecticut-seed leaf grown on Plasencia’s own farms that has been aged for more than 3 years. This cigar is not “quite” a Nicaraguan cigar, but not “quite” a Connecticut cigar, but rather a true “Connecticut Nicaraguan.” So how did it work out, you ask? Well, we can let the 90 rating in Cigar Aficionado answer that.
