The Rocky Patel The Edge Candela is a cigar for those who want something different, fun, and delicious, all at the same time. This line is of Honduran origin, expertly handmade at the El Paraiso Factory in Danlí. Across the available vitolas, the line maintains a consistent mild-to-medium strength profile. Although it is a staple of the ever-growing Rocky Patel portfolio, it remains one of the handful of authentic Candela cigars currently available on today's market. During the cigar boom, Candela wrappers seemed a bit more plentiful, but the funky green leaf has since been phased out, so to speak. This is due not only to the lack of the Candela's physical appeal to some smokers but because the ultra-mild nature of the leaf made it tough to blend anything flavorful without ending up with a bitter, unbalanced mess. However, in recent years, certain manufacturers have ventured outside their comfort zone and blended some very successful cigars using this odd wrapper leaf. Perhaps Rocky noticed this and realized he could elevate the category; in this case, he extended what is considered to be his most successful line of all time, The Edge, to include his first-ever Candela. The filler blend, which utilizes a rich mix of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers, is combined with a Nicaraguan binder and a unique Habano-seed Candela wrapper to create an overall package that is quite impressive.
