The original Edge was a value-priced stick offered in boxes of 100 and available in two simple variations. Since then, the number of cigars bearing the Edge trademark has grown to eight, the blend in question being the eighth installment. For this Honduran-made gem, Rocky went with a delectable blend of Panamanian and Honduran fillers, combined with a Honduran Habano binder. The real star of this show, however, is the wrapper: An Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf aged no less than 10 years. You read that right, the tobacco used here has been waiting for over a decade to wrap this cigar. Aside from an arms-wide-open welcoming from just about every Rocky Patel fan on the planet, The Edge 20th Anniversary promptly earned a pair of 90 ratings in Cigar Aficionado soon after its release.

For the packaging here, Rocky definitely crossed his Ts and dotted his Is. The luxurious red boxes scrolled with gold lettering pair beautifully with the elegant red and gold bands embracing each vitola. The foot band is a nice touch as well, designating the 20th Anniversary blend. Construction is what you would expect from Rocky Patel, meaning you are going to get a well-performing stick every time. The thick blue smoke pours from the head, bathing the taste buds with an introduction of nuts and white pepper. After this, the secondary flavors of cedar and cinnamon come through, all wrapped around a core of earthy and robust raw tobacco. The finish is creamy and zesty, just spicy enough to keep things interesting. All in all, this cigar finishes as a solid medium-full-bodied blend, but the flavor profile is immaculate.
