Rocky Patel is the kind of guy that refuses to let a birthday, anniversary, or any celebratory occasion go unrecognized with a stellar cigar, so it’s no surprise that by the time of his 60th birthday, something big was already long in the works: The Rocky Patel Sixty. In anticipation for this stick, Rocky already had the cigars rolled and was aged the entire batch for over 2 years. Made in his Nicaraguan factory, Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A., the Sixty combines a rich Nicaraguan filler and binder blend with a gorgeous Mexican San Andres wrapper leaf. Though it may be a simple recipe, the aforementioned long aging process has married the characteristics of the different leaves to produce a one-of-a-kind flavor profile that is both refined and eventful. Rocky’s top-secret project would end up paying off big time, as in 2022 the Sixty earned an unprecedented 96 rating and the runner-up spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of the Year.
