Right when you thought Rocky Patel couldn’t possibly come up with something new, along comes the Rocky Patel Dark Star to rock the cigar world in typical Rocky style. Made at Nestor Plasencia’s famed El Paraiso factory in Honduras, the Dark Star incorporates a recipe that includes tobacco never before used in a cigar bearing Rocky’s name. This tobacco is grown on the Plasencia farms in Honduras but comes from a seed originating in Paraguay — of all places. Transplanted and cultivated in Honduras, the Paraguayan tobacco is then blended with leaves from Jamastran, Honduras, and Jalapa, Nicaragua to create the filler recipe. The binder is Honduran, and the wrapper is a dark brown Corojo leaf grown in Honduras. The final product, as Rocky Patel states, is a “meticulously crafted cigar that embodies medium-bodied strength and an array of captivating flavors.”
