Nestor Plasencia has long been one of the foremost tobacco growers in the premium cigar business, supplying high-grade tobacco to countless names and manufacturers over the course of the past several decades. It wasn’t until he began offering his own cigars, however, that he finally got the recognition he deserves. Plasencia Alma Fuerte Natural is a prime example of just how incredible a cigar can be if it is blended and produced by someone who has become an expert in the field over the course of a lifetime. Made in Nestor’s own factory in Nicaragua, Alma Fuerte Natural is a true Nicaraguan puro, meaning that every single leaf used in the production of the cigar comes from Nicaragua—wrapper, filler, and binder—and in this case all tobacco used is grown on the Plasencia Family Farms in Esteli, Nicaragua. Unlike the original Alma Fuerte, this version uses a Colorado Claro wrapper leaf that is lighter in color and provides the blend with an entirely new take on the flavor profile. This cigar has become one of Plasencia’s recent hits, earning a stout 91 rating in Cigar Aficionado and taking the social media world by storm.
