For this Claro version, we have Honduran fillers, a Mexican San Andres binder, and a silky, light brown Honduran Connecticut wrapper leaf. All Heaven and Hell cigars are produced in Valladares’ own factory in Danli, Honduras. Both variations of the blend are offered in one size, a 6” x 52 Toro.

Made in the Oscar Valladares factory in Danli, Honduras, this brand was once exclusively available only at select online retailers. In 2023, Oscar Valladares and company took over rights to distribution and now its widespread availability has fans raving. This 2-part series includes a light, mild Claro version, also known as “Heaven,” and this darker, ominously fuller-bodied Oscuro, obviously tagged “Hell.” For this variant, we have the same Honduran fillers and Mexican binder as its lighter counterpart, yet the simple Claro wrapper is exchanged for a nearly black Nicaraguan Oscuro leaf, adding a heaping helping of flavor and some serious “oomph.” Like its counterpart, Heaven and Hell Oscuro is offered in one single size: a 6” x 52 Toro.

The Claro version comes in a white box, but this Oscuro gets a shiny red one, and the wings on the band are black instead of white. Wings, you ask. The label has fold-out cutouts of wings to give it a nice 3-D touch while smoking—something that could be quite the conversation starter at the local lounge. A simmering stream of velvety blue smoke continuously pours from the head of each delicately constructed vitola, at first greeting the palate with a splash of spicy Nicaraguan white pepper and dark espresso on the opening. Quickly, the flavor profile settles into a flowing medley of coffee, dark chocolate, and earthy tobacco flavor, with a hint of sweetness and spice on the finish.
