La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo

La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo

When a new cigar bears the La Gloria Cubana name, there is usually a ton of excitement that follows, and such was exactly the case when La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo was released. The big story with this cigar is the use of medio tiempo tobacco in the filler blend. First utilized over a decade ago in the legendary Cuban Cohiba Behike BHK, medio tiempo tobacco is the very top priming of the tobacco plant, sprouting just above the ligero leaves when the plant is exposed to direct sunlight. Only certain strains of tobacco seeds yield these thick, flavor-rich leaves, so their use in cigars is not widely popular. However, when done right, medio tiempo leaves can take the flavor profile of a cigar to an entirely new level, as proven with this particular blend. La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo is rolled in the Dominican Republic at the General Cigar Dominicana factory and uses an elaborate 4-country filler blend consisting of long fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the USA. The medio tiempo leaves are from USA Connecticut Habano tobacco grown specifically for this cigar. The binder is Connecticut Broadleaf from the USA and the wrapper is a dark, oily Ecuador Sumatra leaf that ties the whole package together.
