After several years of not being offered as a part of the regular JFR lineup, except for special orders, JFR Connecticut is back, with new packaging and the same amazing taste we remember from the original. Made by Casa Fernandez down in one of the cigar capitals of the world, Nicaragua, JFR Connecticut boasts a robust blend, offering quite a surprise for fans of typical Connecticut cigars. The binder and filler tobaccos are bold Aganorsa leaves from Nicaragua and the wrapper is a golden brown Ecuadorian Connecticut leaf. JFR was originally a satellite brand made specifically to be sold in brick and mortar stores, but has now become one of the shining stars in the cigar business.

The original JFR Connecticut was offered as a raw cigar—no bands, no sleeves, no special boxes or packaging. Things have since changed, as this new release sports a luxurious cream colored band outlined with gold foil, and a tissue sleeve to boot! Each cigar is finished with a pigtail cap, further adding to the classic Aganorsa Leaf styling. The silky Connecticut wrapper is delicately rolled over the cigar in such a fashion that it appears as one solid covering. The roll is firm and the draw is easy, allowing JFR Connecticut to produce some serious smoke. Upon first light, it's easy to tell this isn't your usual Connecticut cigar. Bursts of spicy Nicaraguan pepper mix with a chewy raw tobacco backbone, soon evolving into a mix of cedar and cream. The finish is clean, yet spicy, and the overall flavor profile is a solid medium-full.

JFR cigars are great sticks for just about anyone. The quality to price point ratio is amazing and cigars such as this Connecticut version are suitable for most palates that have at least some smoke time on them. Versatile and satisfying, this blend makes a great choice for the morning, alongside a cup of coffee and cream, or after dinner, with some white wine or even bourbon. Similar beefy Connecticut cigars may include Oliva Connecticut Reserve or Camacho Connecticut, yet most would agree that this particular cigar has even more "oomph" than those.
