H. Upmann Hispaniola by Jose Mendez is among the most recent cigars to bear the coveted H. Upmann name, and this time the blend is from the Dominican Republic! Over the past several years, Altadis USA has teamed up with some big names in attempts to re-kindle the classics. Of all the recent remakes, however, the H. Upmann blends seem to garner the most attention. Just a couple years back, H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez took things to a whole new level, and now Altadis has given another rising star in the cigar world a chance to put his own twist on things. Jose "Pepe" Mendez is best known for a recent addition to the Montecristo portfolio: Montecristo Pilotico Pepe Mendez. After the success of that particular offering, he had the chance to recreate the H. Upmann blend at the famed Tabacalera de Garcia in the Dominican Republic using his own recipe. Speaking of the recipe, this cigar consists of a filler blend from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, a Dominican Olor binder, and a golden brown Ecuador Sumatra wrapper leaf. Not your typical H. Upmann, this stick is made to be a whole new animal.
