Foundation Cigars is a name that has really picked up momentum in recent years, and some would agree that Charter Oak Especiales Pasquale is one of their best releases to date. Named after Foundation founder Nicholas Melillo's grandfathers, this line pays homage to the two men that introduced him to cigars and inspired him to be who he is today. In addition to paying homage to Melillo's grandfathers, this series also commemorates the company's new office on a 300-acre farm in the middle of the Connecticut River Valley growing region. Made at the famed AJ Fernandez factory in Nicaragua, the Especiales line consists of two variants (one for each grandfather): Pregnataro, a medium-bodied stick draped in a golden Connecticut shade wrapper leaf, and the cigar in question, Pasquale, a bolder, richer, fuller-bodied cigar boasting a nearly black Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The filler and binder blend is made up entirely of aged Nicaraguan tobacco. Both variants are available in one size, a 5 ½" x 48 robusto size that offers a beautiful take on the flavor that Melillo and company worked so hard to achieve.
