Eiroa. Specifically Julio R. Eiroa, but the surname is enough to set mouths to watering and eyes to shining. That's because the Eiroa family, led by Julio himself, has been involved with crafting some of the world's favorite smokes for decades. The Aladino is nod to this lengthy involvement, hearkening back to the heritage of classic Cuban cigars created between 1947 and 1961. Containing only 100% authentic Cuban-seed Corojo grown on Eiroa's Honduran family farm, this stick is a worthy addition to any humidor.
The Eiroa's ties to the land of their forefathers are evident from the moment an Aladino Toro is pulled from the protective cellophane enveloping each well-crafted 6” X 50 vitola to present an earthy, barnyard-like aroma while also displaying an oily sheen like the midday Honduran sun. A smooth draw during a cold test proves the cigar's quality of construction while tempting the palate with a flourish of warm spice. Alight, the initial flavors are of sweet cream and vanilla, with hints of bitter orange and cocoa to tantalize the senses. Cedar and caramel keep the strength an easy medium, while spikes of black pepper, stone fruit, and allspice keep things from becoming predictable.
