Sure, the Sumatra-skinned original Quattro was ranked the best non-Cuban smoke of 2013 and received an incredible 95 rating, but the Maduro’s masterful creator Jochy Blanco should be trusted to make the right decisions when recovering the Dominican Habano tobaccos used as filler and binder. And boy, has he. Sourcing a naturally dark and juicy San Andres leaf to serve as the wrapper, he has turned the Vibrato Maduro into a rousing medium-full orchestra of succulently sweet flavor.
The first thing you will notice when you pull an Aging Room Quattro Maduro Vibrato from your humidor, other than the fact that your mouth will have already begun watering, is just how oily and smooth the 6” X 54 toro vitola is. It is almost like a solid bar of chocolate you will want to bite into, but the aroma is more of cedar and dry cocoa powder so you should probably just smoke it. After removing the red and gold foot band and cutting the head, puff slowly while applying a steady flame to be rewarded with the initial tastes of nougat and almonds. The flavor and strength increase slowly as the steady burn works towards the head, a host of harmonic flavors such as oak, sweet cream, white pepper, mocha, citrus peel, toast, and dried herbs all building to a crescendo of pleasure.
Competitive in terms of flavor and quality to ultra-premiums costing two to three times as much, the Aging Room Quattro Maduro Vibrato blows them away when it comes to value.
