Trinidad Paradox Belicoso is another cigar in the long line of traditional Altadis brands to get a facelift, much like the Monte by Montecristo and the Saint Luis Rey Gen 2. The Paradox is the first cigar out of Trinidad to combine their very old-school and traditional ways of cigar making with a modern feel. While the other reboots are focussing on heavier, fuller-bodied flavors, the Paradox is actually coming slightly down from the traditional Trinidad and is a medium-bodied smoke. Handcrafted in the Dominican Republic, Paradox has Nicaraguan filler, a Dominican binder, and a Mexican San Andreas Criollo 98 wrapper.

The band is striking. A mix of neon green, black, and silver just exudes a new-school feel to the Trinidad Paradox. The wrapper is a medium brown and has an oily sheen. The aroma before lighting was reminiscent of cedar. After lighting we were surprised at how different this was from the regular Trinidad. Gone were the flavors of spice and pepper, and in their stead was a honey-like sweetness, which was very pleasant. The burn and draw were as perfect as one would expect from a Trinidad.

Trinidad Paradox is the perfect blending of old-school and new-school cigar making. A more medium body than one normally expects from this brand, the Paradox is perfect for someone who has always wanted to try a Trinidad but had the full-nature of the cigar scare them away. This is a perfect all-day smoke. We would also recommend the other new blends such as Monte by Montecristo and Saint Luis Rey Gen 2.
