Rocky Patel has been making great cigars for years, and the Rocky Patel Royale Toro cigar is just another in a long line of fabulous sticks. Coming in at #5 on the Cigar Aficionado Top 25 list, even above the Opus X and Padron Family Reserve, makes this 6 1/2" x 54 cigar, a cigar that needs to be experienced. A beautifully square pressed cigar is wrapped in a flawless Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaf and double-bound in both Connecticut broadleaf and Connecticut shade. The filler is a triple ligero Nicaraguan leaf which adds to the flavor of this great cigar.
Gold and red lettering adorn both the bands of the gorgeous cigar. The milk chocolatey, smooth wrapper gives this cigar an incredible earthy aroma right from the get-go. These flavors continue with abundance throughout the smoke, and only slight hints of spice and sweetness creep in. While some list this as a medium-full body, we found it much closer to the medium side of that scale.
Rocky Patel has another winner on his hands with this Rocky Patel Royale Toro cigar and his proof is being included in the top 10 of cigars of the year. This amazingly constructed, tasty beauty needs to be tried and we are sure will find a place of honor in most humidors. The earthiness pairs perfectly with a nice single malt, and the subtle body is just enough to make this a great afternoon cigar.
