Quesada Jalapa Prominente Cigars
Manuel Quesada is known for not only making some unbelievable cigars but also experimenting with strains of tobacco leaf which are very rare. The Quesada Jalapa Prominente cigar fits both of these categories. Made in the Dominican Republic, this vitola is filled with premium aged Dominican and Nicaraguan filler and has a Dominican binder. The experimental part of this cigar is the wrapper. Grown by the Plascencia family in Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper is what gives this cigar not only its name but the bulk of its flavor. Only a few hundred bales of this rare tobacco were produced, and only 1000 boxes of each size of the Quesada Jalapa were made.
A gorgeous black, white and gold band adorns this wrapper and almost matches how majestic the wrapper looks. Light brown in hue, it would take a microscope to find a flaw. Just as wonderful as the wrapper leaf looks is how it burns. Perfect and straight, this cigar holds onto its ash until you feel obligated to tip it off. Once lit, there is a creaminess to the smoke that is matched with a note of cedar and pepper. The main thing to note is an unbelievable smoothness from beginning to end. The second half of the Quesada Jalapa brings in flavors of leather and coffee which marry amazingly with the spiciness from before.
Quesada Jalapa is yet another unique cigar from the mind of Manuel Quesada. This is an amazing chance to smoke an extremely rare wrapper, but due to its uniqueness this is a very limited production cigar. The flavors matched amazingly with a port after dinner.
