At first the name may not make sense in any language, but you'll soon discover that the Larutan English is full of surprises. First of all, 'Larutan' is simply an anadrome of the frontmark's original name of 'Natural', a clever change by Drew Estate to get around new regulatory requirements while the cigars remain the same. Second, though it is the latest member of the team, the English carries on the brand's tradition of adding aromatic black tobaccos from countries like Syria and Turkey into the filler blend to add sweet and exotic flavors to the Nicaraguan longleaf used throughout the rest of the 6” X 52 vitola. Lastly, well, you're going going to have to smoke one to find out for yourself how surprisingly delicious these cigars actually are.
The first thing you'll notice after slipping one of these Toro-sized smokes from its cellophane is the smell of creamy milk chocolate pouring from deep within the smooth Nicaraguan wrapped barrel, a delightful prelude to a cashew and cake-filled cold draw. Lighting easily, the foot of the Larutan English flares to life with a burst of allspice, French vanilla, and graham cracker. The reams of cool, medium-bodied smoke which flow easily to the palate from start to finish bring with them plenty of dark rum and earth, with hints of semi-sweet cocoa, cane syrup, and a touch of butterscotch.
