1 x CAO Flathead V770 Big Block (7" x 70, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). Made in Nicaragua at the Scandinavian Tobacco factory in Estelí. Inspired by grease monkeys and rock 'n roll, Flathead is box-pressed, flat-headed, and funky. This stick has Nicaraguan ligero fillers, a Habano Connecticut binder, and a dark, well-marbled Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. CAO Flathead starts its ignition with a strong, thick river of sweet, chocolatey flavor. The overall base is earthy, with just a few hints of pepper and coffee sprinkled about. As it evolves, a rich sweetness begins to dominate the flavor profile, giving bursts of floral and cocoa notes. Buckle up because this hot rod gives one heck of a ride.
1 x Asylum 13 Corojo 70x7 (7" x 70, ●●●●● Full). The talented torcedores at Eiroa's Fabricas Unidas factory have subverted the original's Nicaraguan puro roots by blending and bunching a plethora of all-Honduran tobaccos for the filler. A Honduran binder is applied, and then they complete the transformation by straight jacketing each vitola in a thick Corojo grown in the sultry Jamastran Valley in Honduras. Sweet tobacco in the cold draw intensifies into a spicier, sweeter tobacco flavor in the burn, the cool flowing smoke beginning medium-bodied and very creamy. After the first inch, the power has ramped up to medium-full, and there is cocoa and red pepper to let you know this cigar means business. Some tangy citrus and cedar help keep the flavors balanced as the cigar develops to full from midway to the last puffs.
1 x Alec Bradley Texas Lancero (7" x 70, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). Coming out of the Plasencia factory in Nicaragua, Texas Lancero is made with Nicaraguan wrapper and binder tobacco and a filler blend from Nicaragua, Honduras, and Costa Rica. With flavors every bit as huge as the cigar itself, Texas Lancero is a cigar made with the serious smoker in mind. Texas Lancero starts off with meaty, savory flavors along with a lingering earthiness in the background. Smooth, cool clouds of smoke deliver hints of cocoa and cinnamon, and the cigar is never overpowering. It's bold, it's tasty, and it delivers a wonderful 3 hours of smokable pleasure.
1 x E.P. Carrillo Inch Natural No. 70 (7" x 70, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). For this cigar, Ernesto Perez-Carillo uses a Natural Ecuadorian wrapper that adds a smooth, medium-strength character to the bold Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco within. The well-rolled filler tobacco within gives only slightly to pressure, revealing no soft spots and promising a pleasing draw that is confirmed during a cold draw test. The soft wood and spice detected on the tongue erupt into crisp cedar and fiery black pepper as soon as the cigar is lit, thick clouds of smoke pouring forth to fill the room with a floral aroma. Mellowing slightly after the initial rush, the profile is a medley of espresso, tanned leather, earthy-sweet vanilla, warm buttered biscuit, and a touch of citrus peel.
1 x JFR Maduro 770 L.E. (7" x 70, ●●●●● Full). The filler and binder blend is 100% Nicaraguan tobacco. The finishing wrapper leaf is Nicaraguan Habano Maduro, making this not only a maduro cigar, but a Nicaraguan puro as well. This massive cigar is slow burning, mellow, and flavorful. Made by the skilled hands of the rollers of Tabacalera Tropical in Nicaragua, JFR Maduro is rolled to provide a plentiful draw and a rock-solid long ash. The initial ignition greets the palate with earth and intense white pepper. Soon after, the blend mellows to an earthy array of raw tobacco, mocha, and sweet nutmeg. Dark, rich, and full-bodied, JFR Maduro is a solid, satisfying stick.
1 x Gran Habano Corojo #5 Grandioso (7" x 70, ●●●●● Full). are handmade in Honduras under the supervision of front man George Rico using Nicaraguan, Mexican, and Costa Rican filler tobacco and Nicaraguan Habano binders. They are finished off with a spicy Nicaraguan corojo wrapper leaf for a heavy, rich smoke. The wrapper leaf is very oily and shiny and has a reddish tint. The smoke is thick and white and full of heavy spice and rich, earthy flavor. There are notes of cinnamon and grass and a long, sweet, floral finish. A great choice for anyone looking for a strong, rich premium cigar.
1 x Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro Howitzer (7" x 70, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). The Edge series is basically what put Rocky Patel on the map. This Maduro variety is made at Rocky's factory down in Honduras using Nicaraguan filler and binder tobacco. The finishing touch is a jet-black Costa Rican Maduro wrapper leaf that adds both body and intense maduro flavor. Rolled to offer a productive draw and a crisp burn, this cigar is always a sure bet when it comes to satisfaction. This cigar starts off with heavy white pepper and oak, soon evolving into a mix of coffee and cocoa. The rich Costa Rican wrapper adds heavy spice and sweet floral notes on the finish, while the Nicaraguan core keeps things bold and earthy.
