A little while back, a diehard La Flor Dominicana fan came up to brand owner Litto Gomez and explained to him that as much as he loved the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero 700, a 6 1/2 x 60 cigar, he really wanted the flavor to be extended a couple of inches. A few weeks later, Litto shipped the man some cigars that were close to nine inches long and the man loved them. The man's nickname was "Digger" and so the legend of Digger began. Introduced in the spring of 2011 in a limited natured, the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Digger is a blend of Dominican binder and fillers with a hearty Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, and it's a monstrous 8 1/2 x 60.
For the LFD fan, Digger does not disappoint. It's hearty leathers, cocoa, woods and that classic Dominican pepper that Litto Gomez has made his signature, only in supersized form. For most, Digger is around three hours of smoking enjoyment, making the pricepoint quite a bargain. The demand for Digger forced Litto Gomez to make it a regular production line, which also give birth to a natural version featuring an Ecuadorian wrapper. The issue was, Litto was having difficulty finding big enough Broadleaf for the wrapper. For the LFD fan who enjoys full flavor, full body and full strength, Digger is a perfect match, assuming you've got some time on your hands.
