Considered by its namesake to be the perfect ‘Good Morning’ cigar to compliment a rich coffee, the Nestor Miranda Special Selection Connecticut Robusto completes the triumvirate started by the Habano Rosado and Oscuro versions that came out a few years ago (‘Good Afternoon’ and ‘Good Evening’ cigars, respectively). Named for Miami Cigar and Company’s president, each vitola is hard-crafted by skilled torcedors at the always in demand My Father Cigars factory, where they carefully bunch the Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Dominican filler into a Nicaraguan binder before coating it in a beautiful Connecticut wrapper from Eduador.

With a shiny copper trim on the band to highlight the shiny and smooth wrapper, the body of the cigar is firm, leathery, and grass-smelling with a familiar Garcia triple-cap. The cold draw offers a taste reminiscent of cherry stem and allows just enough air through to prove the excellence of construction. The first few puffs offer a familiar Pepin pepperiness, but this is quickly tempered by the shade wrapper into a creamy and smooth cedar with hints of citrus in the retrohale. Midway through, a delicious black walnut flavor is swirled into the mix long before the tongue picks up some spice as the cigar approaches the hard-to-put-down nub.

Overall medium in strength and flavor with a solid white ash and perfect burn, the Nestor Miranda Special Selection Connecticut can be enjoyed by any smoker who enjoys a bit of a kick in their shade-wrapped smokes, either with that recommended early cup of java or even with an liqueur-spiked espresso after dinner. If you are not familiar with Miami Cigar and Company, it’s a great time to try their affordable La Aurora 107 or better yet their other collaboration with My Father Cigars, the increasingly popular La Sirena
