The E.P. Carrillo Elencos Elites is a cigar that proves that “The Master,” Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, can still blow away even the pickiest of cigar smokers to this day. Based on the blend showcased in the E.P. Carrillo Edicion Limitada 2010, this cigar easily demanded a spot in Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 Cigars of 2012. Made in the Dominican Republic, Elencos is blended using Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, a Dominican binder, and a very appealing Brazilian habano wrapper leaf. After the success of the Edicion Limitada 2010, Perez-Carrillo decided to bring out the Elencos as a mainstay within the brand.
The dark brown Brazilian habano glistens with oil. The cigar is constructed like a work of art. The opening draw is blazing with pepper and cedar, each cloud of silky gray smoke more intense than the last. The overall taste is a robust mix of spice and wood; crisp and powerful, yet balanced. The finish is long and spicy, as the smoke is thick and coats the palate like honey. Very refined and sophisticated.
A cigar of this stature could easily sell for two or three times the suggested price of the Elencos. The complex, powerful blend of premium tobaccos is aimed at experienced connoisseurs. There couldn't be a better mate for single malt scotch or heavy bourbon, and this stick can be enjoyed at any time of day. Comparable sticks might include E.P. Carrillo Core Line and Don Pepin Blue Label. E.P. Carrillo Elencos may be the finest offering yet from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo.
