Sons of Cuban Poet Herberto Padilla, Ernesto and Carlos Padilla have combined together to create a premium, small batch, boutique brand of cigars using only the finest of tobaccos. These guys are picky about the tobacco they use and it shows in their cigars. The tobaccos they use tend to be high end quality hybrid, rare and first generation Cuban-seed tobacco for their sticks and it definitely shows in the finished product. This Padilla Conmemorativo 10-Cigar Sampler Tin shows off some of the best that Padilla has to offer.
The tin these cigars are packaged in is also very striking featuring a 3-dimensional Cuban street scene. This item would make a great gift for any smoker on your shopping list or buy it for the cigars and use the tin around the house yourself.
The Padilla Conmemorativo Sampler Tin includes:
2 - Padilla Miami Robusto (5” x 50)
2 - Padilla 1932 Robusto (5” x 50)
2 - Padilla Dominus Robusto (5” x 50)
2 - Padilla Series ’68 Robusto (5” x 50)
2 - Padilla Obsidian Robusto (5” x 50)
Padilla Miami - The Padilla Miami is a 94 point Cigar Aficionado rated cigar. They had this to say about the Padilla Miami “First puffs of this gorgeous, well-made robusto come on strong and earthy leading to cocoa and nutty flavors as the cigar progresses. Mellow, Scotch-like impressions linger on the palate. Complex and flavorful.”
Padilla 1932 - Cigar Aficianado awarded this cigar a 93 rating with ’Humidor Selection’ honors, commenting: "A gleaming, dark torpedo that is cedary sweet and free of harshness. Rich chocolate and leather flavors envelop the palate and the finish is long and lush." A 5 year aged Cuban seed Corojo wrapper covers a unique mixture of classic Nicaraguan fillers.
Padilla Dominus - This selection from Padilla uses a 2006 Corojo wrapper so rare that this cigar was only offered to 50 retailers nationwide. The wrapper is some sort of hybrid superstar, putting off flavors of spice, black pepper, and earth along with many other complex notes and flavors. This is one Padilla you'll want to try for sure.
Padilla Series ’68 – The Padilla Series '68 was one of three cigars that Ernesto released in honor of his father, Cuban poet Herberto Padilla. The reference to 1968 is to commemorate the year his father's most controversial and outspoken anti-Castro work was written. This led to his house arrest, imprisonment and eventually allowed them to leave Cuba. This cigar is medium to full bodied and combines both earthy and sweet flavors.
Padilla Obsidian – This is a medium to full bodied Padilla boasting nuances of espresso, cocoa and excellent examples of a jet black, oily maduro wrapper. The Obsidian is also produced in very limited quantities making it one Padilla release that can often be difficult to find. The filler tobacco gives us a wonderful balance of ample spice and a good amount of sweetness on the finish.
