The Esteban Carreras 5150 Torpedo is a medium flavored medium bodied cigar. It is a Nicaraguan filled stick that is held together by an Ecuadoran Sumatra Wrapper. The Esteban Carreras line seems to have some affinity to police codes. Their other open box budget line is named the Esteban Carerras 187, the “187” refers to the police code for murder. “5150” is the police code for an emotionally disturbed person. With names like this one would expect a much bolder, bigger, in your face flavor. These cigars simply aren't that bold.

The 1st third of the Esteban Carreras 5150 has a bit of a spicy tingle with a smooth fruit flavor added to it. The spice picks up some in the 1st third while the fruit flavor stays and brings us into the 2nd third. Heading into the middle of the cigar the fruit flavor, gives way to something a little more outdoorsy. It's a good mixture of sweet wood and hay. The final third of the cigar is a little bolder, a little spicier but that's mostly attributed to the fact that it is burning hotter.

All told, the Esteban Carreras may not remind you of a crazy person but at this price you'd be crazy not to at least give them a try.
