The Montecristo Reserva Negra Toro cigar is a Honduran and Nicaraguan filled, Nicaraguan bound, and a San Andres Mexican Morron wrapped square pressed beauty. The wrapper is a dark chocolate, oily, veinless beauty. The cigar is well packed from the head to the foot and is a bit springy all over. The cap and wrap isn't the prettiest I've ever seen but they shouldn't affect the way it smokes any.

The aroma from the foot and wrapper is a heavy chocolate one with a bit of creamy caramel from the foot. The cigar has a creamy caramel prelight draw mixed with the same chocolate from the dark Mexican San Andres wrapper in the mouth. The draw is a bit on the tight side likely due to the square pressed nature of this Montecristo Reserva Negra.

The big flavor winner here is clearly the chocolate flavor mixed with the caramel but there is a distinct change in flavor in the final third that introduces some cherry and anise flavors bringing us a melding of licorice flavors along with that carmel chocolatey goodness.

If you like the Cain Maduro, the Liga Privada No. 9, or the cigars put out by La Sirena you might want to give these Montecristo Reserva Negras a try. They are a bit on the pricy side so perhaps save these for a special occasion.
