The A. Turrent Triple Play is named for the 3 Maduro leaves used to make up this cigar. Like the CAO MX3 and the Camacho Triple Maduro, the A. Turrent Triple Play is made up of a Maduro filler, binder, and wrapper. However, somehow this is one all maduro cigar that still manages to stay in the medium bodied, medium flavored range.

The Triple Play surprisingly has very little aroma coming from the foot or wrapper when it is taken from the cellophane. The wrapper is a beautiful brown San Andres Maduro, the binder is a Connecticut Broadleaf, while the fillers include a variety of maduro tobacco from Nicaragua, San Andres, and Honduras. It is solidly packed and feels tight all along the length of this stick.

It was difficult to light and I was concerned the draw would be tough but the draw proved to be okay. Tons of tobacco, creamy coffee, and the chocolate flavors that come from a Connecticut Broadleaf leads us into the 1st third of this all maduro stick. The 2nd third brings us some sweeter pine or cedar wood flavors with the coffee flavors fading away or perhaps that is the bitterness I'm now tasting. Not a bad bitter just something to balance the chocolate flavor. The final third doesn't bring us much development in the flavor department but the flavor is still good.

Overall, this is a good straightforward cigar and I recommend it to those who enjoy maduros in general.
