The Viaje Oro Fuerza is another offering from the masters of the micro-batch cigars that brought us the Skull and Bones, the Viaje 50/50 Black Label and the Viaje Satori Nirvana. Fuerza is the Spanish word for Strength.
The wrapper on this Viaje Oro cigar is a Nicaraguan corojo leaf that holds together the double Nicaraguan binder and filler blends. This stick is touted as a full bodied smoke that boasts a ton of flavor and complexity. Though, fuller bodied these cigars have a particular mellow-ness to them that makes them palatable to medium bodied smokers as well. The Viaje Oro is well packed with the cigar having a little “give” to the majority of the stick. A triple cap finishes off the firm head of this cigar. The pre-light draw of this cigar is a bit on the firm side but should open up a bit after lighting.
The notes found in this Viaje Oro include cedar, earth, bold coffee, and cinnamon to round out the flavor profile.
The burn line can sometimes burn a bit unevenly but there generally isn't need for corrective measures. The cigar puts off a large amount of smoke. Speaking of ash, it's a darker grey color and in my case held on clear to the band. If that isn't a sign of superb construction, I have no idea what is.
Give this stick from Viaje, the small batch specialists a light and you just may find a new favorite.
