Gurkha Viper Cigars
Gurkha Viper is a departure from the norm when people think of cigars made by Kaizad Hansotia. Usually known for cigars with elaborate packaging and marketing, as well as the high price tags which go along with that, the Viper is a plainly boxed cigar that may make you question at first whether you are smoking a Gurkha. Released in 2010, Gurkha Viper was made as a lower cost smoke that everyone could try, but that didn’t mean any degradation in quality or taste. Made in the Dominican Republic, a blend of Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, Dominican binder, and a super oily Dominican wrapper make this a great medium-to-full body smoke.
From the get-go you will be surprised this cigar is a Gurkha. Notably absent, besides the ornate box, is the elaborate band which adorns all other Gurkha cigars. In its stead is a simplistic red design with only the Viper name and a small drawing of the head of the snake. Much like its namesake, this cigar seems to be coiled up and waiting to surprisingly strike you with an abundance of flavor. A spicy earthiness is present from foot to cap, but there was also a surprisingly pleasant floral aroma which accompanies every puff. Rigidly square-pressed, this cigar has the expert construction one expects from the Gurkha name. An even burn, and despite how dense Viper felt, it has an amazing smooth draw.
Don’t let the simplistic design fool you, this cigar is another top-quality smoke from the Gurkha brand. Strong, flavorful, and packed with spice, Viper is a stick which will please the palate of any medium-to-full-bodied cigar smoker. A perfect compliment to an after dinner espresso or cordial, the spicy nature of this cigar will pair perfectly with something either a little bitter or sweet. Just don’t let it surprise you, because this Viper will strike.
