E.P. Carrillo Core Short Run 2013 Cigars
E.P. Carrillo Core Short Run 2013
All new and straight from the mind of the man of many talents, the EP Carrillo Core Short Run 2013 cigar builds upon an already monumental portfolio. Every year since breaking free from the constraints of La Gloria Cubana and launching his own line in 2009, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III has utilized some of the rarest and choicest tobaccos in his arsenal to create a small batch, or Short Run, line distinct from his regular, but in no way second-rate, production frontmarks. For the 2013 version, Ernesto has taken his Core blend (one vitola of which is graced with a spectacular 92 rating) of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, Dominican Piloto Cubano binder, and Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, and ramped it into the stratosphere.
The first few puffs of the cigar offer crisp cedar and toast, with deeper, earthier coffee flavors and some spices, particularly cinnamon and cloves, during the first third. Leather and sweet black cherry notes are evident during the second, with hints of orange peel and nuts backed by potent white pepper in the final stages. As is tradition with the Short Run series, the names of each of the three vitolas in the line have been changed but the sizes are familiar: A slightly smaller than standard Robusto, a hefty and slow burning Corona Gorda, and a hefty Double Robusto. Regardless of your choice, the EP Carrillo Core Short Run 2013 is bound to make a good impression.
