Cohiba XV Cigars
You can’t make much of a name for yourself in today’s cigar market if you don’t have a full-bodied powerhouse of a cigar in your lineup, but the Cohiba brand covered this requirement way back in 2001 with their Cohiba XV. And they did it not because they needed the recognition, it is a Cohiba after all, but because they wanted their customers to have access to the types of smokes for which they were clamoring but at the time were in short supply. For this eXtra Vigoroso release, they even used types of tobacco still popular today: an rugged Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a chewy Connecticut Broadleaf, and spicy Dominican Piloto and Nicaraguan ligero.
In stock today, the cigar is ready to deliver the flavors of dark, rich coffee and smoky hickory, with hints of sweet chocolate, a powerful earthiness, and an invigorating peppery spiciness. Amazingly strong and robust when released, the Cohiba XV can still stand it’s ground among some of the more recent nicotine-bombs, so all non-expert smokers should consider first working their way through some Punch Gran Puros or a few La Gloria Cubana Serie N to see if they are up to it. Excellent with an espresso, the Robb Report’s ‘Best of the Best’ Cohiba XV will age gracefully, but you might have trouble leaving them alone for that long.
