Room 101 San Andres Cigars
Room 101 San Andres
The latest collaboration between Matt Booth and Camacho, the Room 101 San Andres cigar is yet another bold and exciting smoke from a brand still on the ascent. The star of the show is the Mexican San Andres wrapper grown by the famous Turrent family, who you may know by their own exquisite A. Turrent Triple Play. Even more special is the fact that the outer leaf wasn’t fermented into the usual dark Maduro as is common for the type, but instead a deep natural color. The filler is choice Corojo and Criollo tobaccos from the Honduran El Corojo farm owned by the Eiroas, original creators of the Camacho brand, with a bit of Domincan leaf for variety, and the binder is more Honduran Corojo.
Billowing smoke pumps cedar and leather directly to the pleasure centers of the brain long before a savory nuttiness keeps the experience fresh through the second third, with the final two inches loaded with spice and cocoa. Medium in body and full flavored, the Room 101 San Andres calls out for a cognac accompaniment at a high-class event, but don’t hesitate even if all you’ve got are the last dregs of a kicked keg at a buddy’s lame party. Just make sure to offer him one, an easy enough decision since they’re available in boxes of 25 or 50.
