Arturo Fuente Opus X Lost City Cigars
Arturo Fuente Opus X Lost City
The Fuente Fuente Opus X Lost City is an impressive cigar with a unique blend and extraordinary flavor. Named for the 2005 Andy Garcia movie about a Cuban tobacco farmer who was forced to give up his farm to the Castro regime, this vitola boasts as uncommon a story as it does taste. While filming at the Fuente farm in the Dominican Republic, Garcia had the idea of a scene in a tobacco field. Unfortunately for him, harvest was just completed. Carlito Fuente offered a field to replant despite the off season. What resulted was an extremely exclusive, summer-grown, wrapper leaf that provides this cigar with its outstanding spiciness. This Dominican Republic Puro is a very limited release and something every full-bodied-cigar lover should experience. On Garcia’s suggestion, a portion of the proceeds from this cigar are given to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation which benefits families in the Dominican Republic.
The grandiose Opus X band is adorned with a secondary Lost City one which surrounds a beautiful matte brown wrapper leaf. While some have called this cigar medium-to-full bodied, we found it much closer to the full side than in the middle. That being said, the smoothness of the smoke is extremely satisfying. The wrapper imparts a zest that is tantalizing on the tongue but never bites. This complex and sophisticated smoke leaves notes of jasmine in the air. As with all Fuente cigars, the construction is impeccable and the ash will hold until the nub.
This rare cigar is not just about the story behind it, but the amazing flavors it produces. Perfect for the lover of cigars that pack a ton of flavor and body. We prefer to enjoy this cigar after a large meal, sitting with a nice single malt scotch or espresso. If you like this cigar we would also recommend the Camacho SLR or the Ashton Vintage Sun Grown, although nothing truly can match the magnificence of the Fuente Fuente Opus X.
