E.P. Carrillo Edicion Limitada 2012 Maduro Cigars
E.P. Carrillo Edicion Limitada 2012 Maduro
Once again on his own and running a boutique cigar company, Ernesto Perez Carrillo is back doing what he does best with the E.P. Carrillo Limitada 2012 cigar. After creating the ever-popular La Gloria Cubana brand and expending it into the powerhouse it is today, Carrillo has returned to the basics of carefully selecting, fermenting, and aging the finest of tobaccos and crafting small batch cigars in his Dominican based Tabacalera La Alianza. To celebrate his achievements, each year he has released an extremely limited cigar in one vitola, and the 2012 version is a 6.5 inch by 56 ring gauge beauty composed of rich Nicaraguan fillers cultivated in volcanic soils, a potent Brazilian Habano binder, and a dark and sultry Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.
Initially full of cocoa with a charred cedar backdrop, the ever expanding complexity wraps some black pepper around a citrusy core before tossing some creamy butterscotch into the mix during the second half of the stick. The E.P. Carrillo Limitada 2012 is solidly medium to medium-full in the way it hits the belly while being easily full flavored on the tongue. A very slow burning vitola, make sure to set aside at least two hours to enjoy the experience, and we heartily recommend having a few iced-down bottles of a refreshing wheat beer at hand to compliment the smoke. There were only 15,000 of these cigars made so get yours today.
