Ambos Mundos Cigars
Ambos Mundos is another fantastic cigars from the minds of Pete Johnson of Tatuaje and the Garcia family. Literally defined, Ambos Mundos means “both worlds” and that could be referring to a number of things. Either the worlds of Johnson and Garcia combined or possibly getting a fantastic Tatuaje cigar at a distinctly non-Tatuaje price. Released in 2009, Johnson wanted to make a cigar all could afford. He decided to use the same tobacco which is found in his Tatuaje line, but the B and C bales. These are tobaccos that are off-color or need a little extra fermentation but the flavor profile is all there.
Ambos Mundos greats you with a simply designed gold and red band. This Nicaraguan cigar has Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos and either a Sumatran or Habano wrapper. Each puff is a subtle mingling of spice and earthiness. Using the lower graded bales of tobaccos had us worrying about possible burn or draw issues, but those were alleviated after the first few puffs. What was most surprising about Ambos Mundos was how mild it was when compared to other Garcia made cigars. Notably absent was the puff of pepper found in most cigars made by the master. Though medium-in-body, Ambos Mundos is definitely not lacking in the flavor department.
If you have thought about trying a Tatuaje before but got a little bit of sticker-shock, Ambos Mundos is the stick for you. With a flavor profile very similar to its more expensive sibling, Ambos Mundos is the perfect cigar to get introduced to Tatuaje. The mild creaminess pairs perfectly with an espresso or your morning cup of coffee.
