La Aurora Barrel Aged Cigars
La Aurora Barrel Aged
Good ratings do not always equal success and longevity in the tobacco world. Rated 92 and coming in at #14 on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 of 2008, La Aurora Barrel Aged Belicoso cigars were recently discontinued along with the rest of the line. Now, whether this is due to poor sales, a new direction of the manufacturer, lack of tobacco to continue the line or some other reason, these medium to full bodied Dominican puros are no more. We’ve bought up a large lot of the last boxes of these rum barrel aged, Corojo wrapped, torpedo tipped sticks and we’re bringing them to you at never before seen pricing.
Long before he went over to make cigars for Joya de Nicaragua and now a mystery, still un-named company, Jose Blanco had his hands in the blending and creation of this wondrously rich, hearty and complex smoke. Dark, thick espresso roasted coffee notes are the most prevalent here with a nutty, creamy complexity mixed with a subtlety of spice.
While this may be the last of the La Aurora Barrel Aged Belicoso cigars they are still worthy of a box purchase or more. We love them and we know you will love them too. We give lots of credit to Jose Blanco and Guillermo Leon for having the foresight to experiment with rum-barrel aging and playing around with the flavors this process imparts.
