Alec Bradley American Classic Cigars Cigars
Alec Bradley American Classic
The Alec Bradley American Classic Churchill is a cigar that separates itself from the rest of the Alec Bradley lineup of modern, full-bodied heavy hitters. For this release, Alec Bradley head honcho Alan Rubin set out to come up with a blend that takes cigar smokers back to a simpler time, when cigars were just that: cigars. One won't find any fancy nuances or complex twists and turns with the American Classic, just a good, old-fashioned, simple cigar that anyone can enjoy, both beginners and connoisseurs alike. The Alec Bradley American Classic is made in Nestor Placencia's factory down in Nicaragua, with long fillers from Esteli and Condega and a binder from Jalapa. A beautiful sandy brown Honduran-grown Connecticut seed wrapper finishes the package.
The cigar is well-packed evenly throughout with noticeably firm, solid construction. Thin veins run throughout the smooth Connecticut wrapper, nearly seamlessly draped over the cigar. The cigar is adorned with a band bearing the American flag and the the words “Libertas” and “Aequitas,” Latin for “Liberty and Justice.” A firm draw provides a generous amount of silky white smoke laced with just a touch of spice. Classic tobacco flavors emanate from the cigar with subtle hints of toffee and caramel. Nothing fancy here, but rather a very pleasant and enjoyable throwback to the days of old, very reminiscent of the classic Cubans. A thick gray ash held on for nearly 2 inches before having to be knocked off. The burn was clean and sharp and no touch-ups were necessary.
All in all, the Alec Bradley American Classic is a medium-bodied cigar that can be enjoyed any time, but in my opinion would be perfect for a hot summer afternoon, enjoyed alongside a cool glass of iced tea. American-style beer would be a great compliment for this stick as well, just nothing too heavy. Fans of this cigar should also consider the Arturo Fuente Natural, Oliva Serie G, or the Romeo y Julieta 1875.
