Since Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.'s announcement that he would leave La Gloria Cubana, the company he spent decades building, to create E.P. Carrillo there was always a discussion of a "Core Line," the main range of products that E.P. Carrillo would sell. Introduced at the 2010 IPCPR show, the E.P. Carrillo Core Line has an immense amount of praise. Made at the E.P. Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic, the Core Line features an Ecuadorian wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers across eight sizes: Encantos (4 7/8 x 50), No.4 (5 1/8 x 42), Regalias Real (5 5/8 x 46), Club 52 (5 7/8 x 52), Predilectos (6 1/8 x 52), Golosos (6 1/4 x 60), Churchill Especial (7 1/8 x 49) and Monumentos (7 3/8 x 56).

While the flavor changes quite a bit throughout the eight unique sizes, the similarities include a nuttiness, earth, cedar, pepper and coffee. Sweetness from earth and cocoa mixes with the cedar to create a unique flavor profile that is seen in many of E.P. Carrillo's creations. The cigar is a bit north of medium in strength, medium-full in body and medium-full in flavor. For those looking for a balanced and flavorful cigar that defines consistency, the E.P.
