J Fuego Gran Reserva Corojo #1 Cigars Cigars
J Fuego Gran Reserva Corojo #1
The J. Fuego Gran Reserva Corojo #1 cigar is the one that started it all. After years of working to craft some of Rocky Patel's highly acclaimed blends, third-generation tobacco man Jesus Fuego left to start his own company, J. Fuego, in 2006. A year later he introduced the Gran Reserva Corojo No. 1, the first major step in cementing Corojo with Fuego. Since then, Fuego has introduced a handful of highly-acclaimed lines featuring Corojo, including the Corojo puro "Origen" and most recently Sangre de Toro, but Gran Reserva was the first.
The Gran Reserva would be introduced on the heels of major recognition in the form of back-to-back Top 25 Cigar of the Year honors for partnerships with Nestor Plasencia. These J. Fuego Gran Reserva Corojo #1 cigars feature Honduran Corojo wrappers, Costa Rican Corojo binders and Honduran, Nicaraguan and some super secret proprietary fillers. Flavor is a slight tweak on classic Corojo with a bit more depth and a bit less rawness. Delicate peppers, hearty woods and sweet earths are the main flavors with nuts, floral notes and cocoa appearing at times for the seasoned palate. Dark ash and great smoke production adorn the well-made Honduran cigar, but you remember the 90+ point Gran Reserva Corojo #1 for one reason, flavor.
