Flor de Las Antillas Robusto is one of the of the most highly acclaimed cigars that has ever come out of the My Father factory in Nicaragua. Named after Cuba, the largest of the Antilles, or “Antillas” islands, as the Spanish say, this full-bodied masterpiece is a Nicaraguan puro—wrapper, filler, and binder—that is capped off by a beautiful sun grown Nicaraguan corojo leaf, one of master blender Jaime Garcia's trademarks. The Flor de Las Antillas Toro vitola of this cigar earned the prestigious title of “No. 1 Cigar of 2012” by Cigar Aficionado, proving that this is a definite must-try.

Slightly box-pressed and adorned with a museum-quality band, this cigar is expertly constructed, as is everything made by the Garcia family. The experience begins with a heavy storm of spicy pepper laced with coffee and nutty notes. This settles into a complex profile of nutmeg, cinnamon, and cocoa—something common to many Garcia-blended ultra-premiums. There is a heavy, chocolatey finish and plenty of raw strength.

Flor de Las Antillas is a cigar for experienced connoisseurs with developed palates. It is a top-shelf show stopper and should be enjoyed to the very finger-burning nub. A great pair with fine bourbon or red wine, this cigar is comparable to San Cristobal and My Father Original. It seems impossible for My Father Cigars to cook up a bad cigar, and Flor de Las Antillas is nothing more than further proof of this.
