Pappy Van Winkle Tradition

Pappy Van Winkle Tradition

Pappy Van Winkle Tradition is an ultra premium cigar from Drew Estates that began as a show of friendship between Jonathan Drew and Julian Van Winkle, President of Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery. Back in 2010, blending and sampling began on this particular cigar as a test of a young Willy Herrera's cigar blending skills. When presented with a box of unnamed cigars at Cigar Aficionado's A Night to Remember by Jonathan Drew in 2016, Julian Van Winkle was immediately hooked. Later, when visiting and touring the famed Drew Estate factory, Van Winkle was given even more of the mysterious, yet delicious cigars, which he smoked throughout the visit. Shortly thereafter, the cigar went into limited production and was renamed Pappy Van Winkle Tradition in honor of Julian Van Winkle and his famous bourbon distillery. As a side note, Willy Herrera proved his worth many times over and is now the master blender at Drew Estate—not too shabby of a title for someone his age. This amazing Nicaraguan cigar features a rich brew of extensively aged fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, an Indonesian binder, and a gorgeous Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper. Even Jonathan Drew himself marvels at the complexity and well-rounded flavor profile offered by Pappy Van Winkle Tradition. (Shop all Drew Estates Cigars)
