ACID Blondie Red CIgars
When Drew Estate made the decision to expand the ACID Blondie line of cigars, one of the obvious directions was towards a little more strength, and so the ACID Blondie Red was born. That is not to say it is now going to knock your socks off with power, even though you can still expect it to do so with flavor.
The Cameroon wrapper used for the Red in place of the Blondie’s customary Connecticut shade unites with the beautifully aged Nicaraguan filler tobaccos to become a medium bodied sponge capable of delivering the perfect amount of flavor and aroma absorbed from their time in Jonathan Drew’s legendary “cuarto aromaticos” or aromatic rooms.
Appearance-wise, when compared to the alternate versions of the Blondie frontmark now available (original Blue, plus Green and Gold), the ACID Blondie Red is the darkest and most rugged of the bunch. Clipping the familiar pigtail cap and taking a cold draw test allows the smoker’s lips and nose to get a preview the near-cacophony of syrupy tastes/smells that will soon assault the palate upon lighting. Beneath the raw cane sugar, elderflower, ginger, and cedar that fill the surprisingly thick clouds of smoke booming from the 4” X 38 petite corona, the Cameroon wrapper adds some warmth by way of leather, earth, and nutmeg. It is full satisfaction in less than an hour.
Fans of Drew Estate’s (in)famous ACID cigars will be clamoring for this delicious new extension of one of the company’s best. Adventurous aficionados will delight in the near-indescribable complexity to be found in a cigar of such modest proportions.
