The 601 Maduro Blue Prominente box-press cigar is yet another cigar blended by Don Pepin Garcia. There are some folks who believe that the 601 Maduro is the first Maduro ever blended by Garcia. This 601 Maduro is a Nicaraguan puro with a Nicaraguan Habano Maduro wrapper. It is a Medium-Full Bodied and a Full Strength cigar.
Holding one in your hand one can't help but notice how densely packed it is. There are no noticeable soft spots and the surface is springy to the touch. The wrapper is a dark chocolate brown and has a moderate amount of veins. The cap is smooth and there are no visible flaws on the entire stick. The 601 Maduro appears to be one well constructed stick.
Upon lighting one, the 601 Maduro puts off a large amount of fluffy white smoke and tastes awfully similar to a hazelnut mocha. The toasty nut flavors blending with the creaminess of cocoa with a small bit of spice thrown in for good measure makes for a very enjoyable smoking experience.
The light grey ash is firm and holds on for a good amount of time. The burn is mostly even but may require a few touchups if you are picky about a perfectly even burn.
